Allure Beauty – Feb 2019

Allure Beauty is another monthly beauty subscription box.  They made changes in 2019.  Instead of a box the products are shipped in a mailer and each month there is a medium size size bag to keep everything in.  Last month it was red.  For February’s shipment it was black.  The bags are very stylish with gold hardware.  This is another beauty subscription that it is very good value for your cost.

For $15, this is  what I got:

  • Wander Beauty – Mile High Club Mascara – Retail Value $26
  • ModelCo Eyeshadow Trio – Retail Value $15
  • Moda Brush – Triad Eye Brush – Retail Value $4.99
  • Mamonde Rose Oil to Foam Cleanser – Deluxe Sample
  • Mamonde Rose Flower Essence Mask – Retail Value $3
  • BrowGal – The Instatint – Brown – Retail Value $22
  • LaRitzy Lip Pencil – Bare – Retail Value $18

Total Retail Value for $15 was a whooping $63.  That is more than 4x the amount.

Ipsy – Feb 2019

Ipsy is an OG subscription service that I have had since 2014.  They were on the chopping block last year.  No reason other than I was getting too much make-up.  They have really made some great changes recently and I like ordering products from their Ipsy shop.  If I wanted to, I could pause my service or I could go to a bi-monthly delivery.  They also have an upgraded Ipsy Plus box that is competitive to BoxyCharm and Glossy Box.  For now, I’m going to keep the service at monthly.

Here is what I received for the subscription service:

  • Sur.Medic – Sheet Mask Duo – Retail Value $2.40
  • F.A.R.A.H Brush – Powder Brush 50F –   Retail Value $15
  • GlamGlow – Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer – sample
  • Inara Cosmobeauty – Nail Polish – Pulse – Retail Value $3
  • Tony Moly – Petite Bunny Gloss – Juicy Cherry – Retail Value $8

Compared to Birchbox and Sephora Play – Ipsy always sends more Full Size items.

The value for the $10 bag was over $28.  This is almost triple the cost of the bag.

I also bought 3 deluxe sample items for $3/ea.  This is a new service that is available each month.  Here is what I got

  • Chella Eyeliner Pen in Purple
  • Elemis Superfood Facial wash
  • Hanalei Lip Treatment in Peach

JewlyBox – Feb 2019

Jewlybox is a fairly new jewelry subscription box.  They have made a few changes recently.  This month’s box was full of sparkly jewelry.  My Favorite!!

  • Silver ring set with sparkly stones
  • Adj silver bracelet with sparkly stones
  • Silver heart necklace with sparkly stones
  • Silver writing pen with large sparkly stone on top

The monthly box is $19.99/month.  They also have an earring only box for $9.99/month.  You can ask for all silver or all gold or ‘surprise me’ which will send you choices chosen by Jewlybox.

Glossy Box – Feb 2019

I just started Glossy Box last year.  I find this box has great value and works with mainstream and unique products.  They also have some of the best packaging for beauty subscription boxes.

Here is what I received:

  • Mighty Patch by Hero Cosmetics – Retail Value $5.00
  • Face Cleanser by First Aid Beauty – Retail Value $8.00
  • Arizona EDP by Proenza Schouler – Retail Value $28.00
  • Rose Quartz Lip Plump by Skin Chemists – Retail Value $32.00
  • 3 in 1 Countour/Shadow/Blush by Mannar Kadar – Est Value $5.00
  • Psssst! Dry Shampoo by Freeman – Retail Value $2.99

The cost of the box is $21/month and the value this month was $80.99.  So the value of the box is about $60 more than the box.

Note: The flyer in the box indicated a Manna Kadar Mascara for RV of $29.  Due supplier delays they had to substitute the 3 in 1 product.  Not sure the value was there for the trade off.  I’m sure there will be a lot of feedback.  In fairness, it has never happened before and I’m sure it was out of their control.

Birchbox – Feb 2019

I really like Birchbox. I think it was the original subscription box that I started back in June 2013. OMG! I didn’t realize I had been subscribing to them for that long.

I always find new brands and products through them. I know they have a lot of competition now, but nothing like being a part of an OG that started a wave of subs.

Here is what I got this month:

  • Sunday Riley Auto Correct Brightening/Depuffing Eye Contour Cream – sample
  • Oscar de la Renta Bella Blanca Eau de Parfum – sample
  • Nexus Humectress Shampoo/Conditioner – Travel size
  • Eyeko Brow Liner – Deluxe sample

Birchbox also has add-one every month for purchase. You just choose what you want, if anything and it will ship with your monthly Birchbox. I usually take advantage of this to try new products. Or order something I really liked from a previous Birchbox.

Here are my add-ons for February:

  • Dr. Lipp Moisturising Colour Tint Trio
  • Herbivore Botanicals Coco Rose Luxe Hydration Trio

I did it!!!

Well I did it!!!!  After procrastinating since 2016 when I turned 50.  At that time it was my goal to start a You Tube channel.   Yes, I know this isn’t a You Tube channel, but it’s a Social Media start.  I thought this would start to get my thoughts pulled together before I move forward to You Tube.

In all fairness, there was a lot that happened between now and then.  But a lot was just excuses.  Now that I have moved on, it was still a goal and it was time to start.

If you happen to come across this, subscribe for updates as I go on this journey over the next year.
